From the minute Mary got her massage license in 1997, she hit the ground running and never looked back. Her career has taken her from Arizona to Washington, Ireland and now Georgia. She has worked in resort spas, private practice, assisted living homes, hospices and hospitals.

Mary has focused the last eight years of her career on oncology.

While living in Seattle, Mary had the opportunity to be trained as Lymphedema Therapist through Norton School of Lymphatic Therapies. This lead her and her business partner at the time, to be the first massage therapists to volunteer at Seattle Care Alliance. Which has subsequently lead to offering full time massage.

After relocating to Atlanta in 2010 to be closer to her daughter, Mary began a quest to use her training. As luck would have it Piedmont Fayette Cancer Wellness program was just getting started. Under the wing of Dr. Tavari Taylor Brown, she started to offer massage to the cancer patients two days a month in 2011. Mary quickly became aware the patients were not only looking for a massage to relax but they had real physical issues after cancer surgery and treatments. Because of her training she was able to direct patients for lymphedema evaluations at the hospital and would also do lymphatic massage to those who needed it. She also continued her education as a way to help patients with scar tissue issues. Soon the doctors realized the benefits of Mary’s treatments to their patients. The massage program went from two days a month to three days a week and one day week at Cancer Wellness Piedmont Newnan hospital .

During this time Mary also continued her education to help those at the end of their life.

A class was formed called “Dying To Live” which focused on all things pertaining to dying. Topics include living wills, hospice, Palliative care, funerals, green burial, etc. Mary believes that death is a very important part of our life’s journey. If you can look at death you will free yourself to live your life fully.

Starting in the summer of 2018, Mary made the decision to leave Cancer Wellness and branch off out on her own to continue the work she loves.

Mary’s massage licence number is MT006836.
